ഷിനെ,Soha

, Soha secretly shoot for 'Accident' in Goa
- Actors Soha Ali Khan and Shiney Ahuja are back together as a pair on screen after "Khoya Khoya Chand", but their new film is being shot secretly and as quickly as possible in Goa.

Though it is being produced by Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC), the production house didn't make any announcement about the film that is tentatively titled "Accident".

Asked about the project, Pritish Nandy said: "How did you hear about it? Yes, we're doing a start-to-finish quickie with Soha and Shiney in Goa. It's tentatively titled 'Accident'."

The movie is being directed by ad filmmaker Abhijeet Chaudhuri, who had earlier made a Bengali film called "Patalghar" that won him a National Award. Chaudhuri has made ads for brands like Bata, Coca-Cola and Castrol.

Nandy said Chaudhuri was shooting the film quietly without any announcement in the wake of the ongoing economic recession.

"At a time when no new films are being announced and big films are suffering for finances, we don't think it's right to start a film with any fanfare. Better to do it quietly. We complete 'Accident' in 23 days," Nandy told IANS.

However, there's a deeper reason for "Accident" being shot in secrecy.

Apparently, the plot is a thriller where the intricate twists and turns could be revealed by anyone who overhears a dialogue or captures a shot on a mobile phone camera.

And the producers wanted to avoid giving the plot away. In fact, the entire cast and crew have been sworn into secrecy and told not to talk about the film at all.

Soha and Shiney were first brought together by Sudhir Mishra for his "Khoya Khoya Chand" in 2007. The film got critical acclaim but failed to make an impact at the box office.

Dom DeLuise

- Los Angeles, May 6: Actor Dom DeLuise, a wisecracking persona who starred in movies like "Blazing Saddles", "Silent Movie" and "The Cannonball Run", has died after a year-long bout with cancer, his family announced Tuesday. He was 75.

DeLuise died Monday in a Santa Monica hospital surrounded by his family.

Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1933 he broke in to television comedy in the 1960's as a regular on the show "The Entertainers".

But he was most famous for his work on several Mel Brooks movies, including "The Twelve Chairs" in 1970, "Blazing Saddles" in 1974, "SpaceBalls" in 1987 and "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" in 1993.

He appeared with Burt Reynolds in the trio of car movies "Smokey and the Bandit II" (1980), "Cannonball Run" (1981) and "Cannonball Run II" (1984). His voice was featured in such films as "An American Tail" (1986) and its sequels, "All Dogs Go to Heaven" (1989) and "Oliver & Company" (1988).

"I was dreading this moment," Reynolds said in a statement released to Entertainment Tonight. "Dom always made everyone feel better when he was around. I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. I will miss him very much."

Mumbai: Crediting megastar Amitabh Bachchan of being a "guiding light" of sound recordists in Hindi cinema, Oscar winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty has said that he owes his international recognition to the Big B.

Bachchan has always been involved in and supervised the post-production stage of his films.

"He would witness how the film is shaping up. He has gifted a library of sound effects from Hollywood to sound recordists in Mumbai to learn the new technology. His company also readily agreed to produce my album of sound effects," Pookutty said after his felicitation by Bachchan on Tuesday night.

He said 22nd February, the day when "Slumdog Millionaire" swept the Oscar awards, was a proud moment and a landmark day for all the technicians working behind the scenes. "We made a point that our contribution is very important towards making of a film and that was recognised by an international body like the Oscars," he said.

Bachchan, speaking earlier, said he shared a close relationship with the sound department all through his career. "Even though Saat Hindustani is my first film as an actor, technically speaking my debut film is Bhuvan Shom, as my voice is documented in it," he said.

The function was organised by the Western India Motion Pictures and TV Sound Engineers Association.

Amitabh

- New Delhi: Ram Gopal Verma is known to base his characters on a myriad of real life personas. So when, RGV decided to make 'Rann' about a media house starring the Big B himself, comparisons with existing media honchos was inevitable. But the maverick director has quashed rumours suggesting that the character of Bachchan is based on none other than NDTV's Pronoy Roy.

"Some reports earlier quoted me as saying that Amit ji's character is based on Pronoy Roy. Let me say this once and for all, Amitabh Bachchan's character is not based on any living person, not Pronoy Roy, nor anyone else. It is fictional," said Verma during a press conference to unveil the first look of the project.

Bachchan is a perennial favourite of Verma having worked with him in a series of films including the box office disaster 'Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag' to the successful 'Sarkar' and 'Sarkar Raj' with Bachchan's character reportedly based on Bal Thackeray.

Bachchan who plays the owner of a leading news channel in the film said, "The film sees me as a journalist who is torn between the pull of commerce and his duty as a media person to bring out the truth."

Kamal and Mohanlal

A visual treat awaits all Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal fans. Kamal Haasan, for the first time, is working with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in Unnai Pol Oruvan. This film is the Tamil remake of A Wednesday. Kamal will be playing Shah’s role, and Mohanlal will play Anupam Kher’s role.

Unnai Pol Oruvan is produced by Rajkamal Film International in collaboration with UTV Motion Pictures. Shruthi Haasan will compose the music for the film.

The entire film, to be completed by May or mid June, is directed by Chakri Toleti, who graduated from Florida Film School in the US. Chakri is a close friend of Kamal Haasan, and the director has done cameo roles in Salangai Oli as the boy photographer and in Dasavathaaram as one of the scientists. Unnai Pol Oruvan has the distinction of being shot with the Red camera in 4k resolution.

Thotta Tharini is the art director; Cinematography is by Manoj Sony. Mohanlal has already completed his part of shooting and will start dubbing soon. We will soon get to see two legends of South Indian cinema together with a class performance!
